Meet the Math Tutors

Hello! My name is Emily Hume and I am the 7th-12th grade math tutor.

I first discovered my love of tutoring at the age of 16 when I began helping the daughter of a family friend with math.  At 17, after graduating high school, I started a math tutoring business in the evenings which at its peak had 15 clients in subjects up to and including AP Calculus AB.  I ran that business for a year before heading to Harvard to get my undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics, specializing in Economics, Econometrics and Statistics.  Whilst in college, I maintained relationships with many of my high school clients and continued to tutor them remotely.  For the past 7 years, I’ve worked in investment banking at a major Wall Street firm.

I am really looking forward to dedicating more time to the work that I love: helping students develop confidence and enjoyment in the subject of math.

In my free time, I love to play sports – golf, soccer, fishing.  I enjoy visiting my family in New England in the summer to escape the Texas heat.  Every Saturday, you’ll find me at the Coppell Farmer’s Market and every Sunday, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Hello! My name is Sonia Raval and I am the 7th-12th grade math tutor.

I graduated from UTA with my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I am a math focused educator in Dallas, Texas, transitioning from a career in analytics and marketing measurement into teaching and program support. I have taught advanced pre-algebra, algebra, geometry and problem-solving to middle and high school students, within a rigorous, after-school math program. I have guided my students through multi-step word problems, functions, and quantitative reasoning with an emphasis on conceptual understanding over formula memorization.

I am excited to implement my experience as a math educator to support student growth and confidence.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also love traveling and creating lasting memories with the people I love!

Hello! My name is Rosa Flores and I am the 3rd-6th grade math tutor.

I am a lifelong resident of Dallas, TX. I attended St. Monica and graduated high school at Bishop Lynch. I then received my Bachelor of Education degree at Texas Tech University. Go Red Raiders! After I graduated, I taught 3rd grade math, science, social studies, and religion at St. Elizabeth of Hungary for 2 years. I transitioned to St. Thomas Aquinas, where I spent the last 8 years teaching 5th grade math.

I began tutoring during the summer of 2015 and have grown to love the individualized instruction to help fill in the gaps for students. Watching my students build confidence in math is one of the many reasons I started my own tutoring business!

In my free time, I enjoy going to the park with my playful dog, Rocky. I like to play tennis and I also enjoy playing board games with my family and husband!
